NEEDLES & GAUGE:
US 15’s/10.0mm rounds or dpn's.
I like using rounds with longer cables, employing magic loop.
GAUGE uses US 15’s/10.0mm in BRIOCHE before BLOCKING.
BRIOCHE GAUGE — 10 sts to 6” and 18 Row PAIRS to 6”
NOTE, I knit rather tightly using Super Bulky Yarn. You may want a smaller needle.
SIZES:
This hat is knit primarily in BRIOCHE. The hat ribbing & brioche will look TINY and stretch a ton; lots of negative ease. The fit should be snug in the ribbing, or it will fall over your eyes, especially if you make it longer in height. The hat offers 3 sizes from Small to XL adult. The numbers below indicate the stitches CO. There is a large amount of negative ease; the hats are intended to stretch. The ribbed start will be slightly tighter and meant to hold the hat before the very loose and stretchy brioche section.
XS/S: 18”, M/L: 21.5”, XL: 25.25” - more nuanced sizes are possible, but will require a bit of improvisation when decreasing the top of the hat
Height of most hats 9” without optional Pom-Pom; short and wide (Sample D) hat was only 7.25” tall.
NOTIONS:
A yarn sewing needle for joining. Markers if desired. 4.5” Pom-Pom maker if you want to have a matching yarn POM.
